For new mothers and their babies, we will contact you ask you to come in for a GP review when your baby is 8 weeks old.
At this review, the GP will check over the overall health of mother and child as well as discussing any concerns you may have. This check is important as the GP will the also determine your baby is fit to have his or her immunisations. When we book you and your baby for your 8 week checks, an appointment for you child’s first immunisations will also be booked in with one of our nurses.
After the first immunisations are given, the nurse will book follow up appointments for the immunisations needed when your child 12 and 16 weeks old.
As part of the vaccination schedule, immunisations are also given when a child is 1 years old and again at 3 years 4 months. The surgery will contact you about these immunisations when your child is due for these.
Also alongside the GP, our health visiting team will also be in contact with expectant mothers to support your child and your family from the child’s birth to the age of 5.
