Clarification regarding eConsult response times

Clarification relating to eConsult response times

The surgery team wishes to further clarify information relating to response times for patients when submitting an eConsult.

Upon submitting an eConsult, your screen will show that your eConsult has been successfully sent with a date when the practice will aim to respond to your eConsult. (If you provided us with an email address, you will receive a copy of this as well). We would like to clarify that this date notification is for the initial response from the practice. Our initial response could include an acknowledgement of receipt, a general update, or an offer of an appointment. Whilst every effort is taken to resolve eConsults as quickly as possible, the date notification that you receive does not guarantee an appointment will be made during this response period. Each eConsult is triaged and appointments are made based around the urgency of each request.

For any eConsult submitted for a child, we aim to respond the same working day or within 24 hours depending on the urgency. We aim to respond to adult requests within 48 hours, whereas we aim to respond to administrative requests within 2-3 days.

Depending on the complexity of the request, certain eConsults may take longer to be fully resolved.

Thank you.
