Due to an increase in queries and requests for the weight loss injections, the GPs have issued a short statement:
'Many patients have started to ask for the weight loss injections at the practice.
The new weight management ‘Tirzepatide’ medication (brand name Mounjaro®) will be available to NHS patients nationally from 23 June.
In Dorset around 1,000 people currently qualify for the medication based on national eligibility criteria however the injections will not be be available locally until later this year (likely the autumn) – so we ask you to please not get in contact your GP just yet as they’re unable to help or offer this service this at this current time.'
