Six million people in the UK provide unpaid, substantial regular care for relatives, friends, partners or children who are frail, disabled or chronically ill.
Help may include tasks such as washing and dressing, managing money, cooking, hoursework, shopping, washing and ironing clothes.
If you are an unpaid carer, support and information is available to you:
All carers are entitled to an assessment of their needs or those of the person they care for, by Social Services. An assessment is intended to provide additional help and support if needed.
We can refer you for a carers assessment if you wish.
If you would like to join our carers register and/or be referred for a Carers Assessment, please download a carers registration form and send to the surgery.
